The books in Harewood’s libraries include both rare and highly personal volumes which reflect the varied interests of the Lascelles family over the last 250 years, including ornithology and zoology. The Lascelles family’s interest in birds goes back generations and over the years they have collected a range of ornithological books that contain beautifully illustrated records of species across the globe.

• The Birds of Yorkshire, T. H. Nelson, 1907
• A description of more than 300 animals interspersed with entertaining anecdotes and quotations, Baldwin and Craddock, 1833.
• The Natural History of Birds, Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon, 1793
• British Zoology, Thomas Pennant, 1776.
