Collection: Kate McGuire at Harewood

By invitation of Diane Howse, the Countess of Harewood, Kate McGuire took up a year-long residency in Harewood's Walled Garden.

Kate wanted to develop her knowledge of plants and used her unlimited access to the gardens and glasshouses to produce her works of art. McGuire's work is a fine examination of the structures, form and textures of plant life. She kindly produced a series of delicate images of edible plants, fruit and vegetables in pencil, ink and watercolour, capturing their organic form whilst avoiding the cliche of prettiness for its own sake.

This technique highlights McGuire's artistic flair and broad knowledge of these cultivated plants. This range features a variety of items which McGuire has commissioned for us following her residency, including prints, notecards, notebook, tea towel and tote bag.
